thanks for the kind words Fullerman, I was Watching the man who sued god the other day and i thought that this would make a good topic to talk about. I know that we have talked about religion before but my question is different, Do you Believe that there is a God? I doesnt matter If its The Christian God, Jubba or any other one. Do you think that there is a higher force in the Universe?

Belief in a God is completely irrassional. The human mind is too flawed to rely on 'faith' to be an accurate representation of a higher being, nor an historical document which is little more than a fantasy story.

I believe in reality and the laws of the universe. I am not so insecure that I need to invest in obscurities in order for my life to have meaning. You can't live your life for the 'payoff' at the end. I live my life for everything around me, no mystical nonsense which validates my life. I already have everything so I am already complete.

"God is a concept by which we measure our fear."
-John Lennon

Your seeing Faith as a weakness and that people resort to it out of fear, although I am not that religious I think that people go to Faith to find meaning and purpose that they are not here by a freak accident.

It is a basic factor in life that things are dependent on other sources. A Bady is dependent on a Mother, The Earth is dependent on the sun. How can the Universe exist with out a soures? But then again how can a God exist without a source?

If the Universe can develop out of nothing into the complexity that we are still after millions of years not completely sure how the human mind works or how to cure many diseases. How can you be so sure there is no God?

After all it seem impossible for the Universe to exist but it does! so why can't God!

I find it to be a weakness. People resort to their imaginations to give their immediate life meaning, which lessens the importance of their immediate life. My life means nothing because God is better than me and heaven is better than life.

Because the human mind exists, it is the red thing in our skulls. The Earth exists, it is the crunchy thing under our feet. God is an idea in born in the red thing in our skulls.

Some human constructs like love describe a relationship between things, as does time. God is the abdication of personal responsibility and the forfeiture of one's life to an intangible fantasy. If people can find happiness that way - fine, absolutely. But if we all want to talk about what's real and what isn't we need to wake up and see that people are real and God is a fuel for the hopeless.

The universe exists because we can see it, we don't need to believe it to make ourselves feel good about ourselves - I don't anyway.

Keeping everything running smoothly in your own life is a full time job, let alone having to worship somebody else.

Love the people you know and don't confuse an insecure fantasy with a superior path.

Hey i dont really believe in god i am just playing the devils advocate, I do agree with what you are saying but the way you are saying it is very arrogant to any other thoughts and ideas, I dont think the Bible is word for word true, but I think they are story that are symbolic of actual events (e.g when Joshua walked around Jericho and the walks fell down. There is no way you can walk around a build and then the wall collapse, but if you think of jerchio & the walls as the Israelites and Joshau as the Hebrews then the story is a simple war between two countries, the tale of Jericho I think is just a colorfully and intresting way of telling the story of a battle)

I dont think that it matter if there is a god or not but the story in the Bible and the Ten Commandments teach people values and virtues that are not being used so much in todays lifestyle. Jesus may have been a nutter or a magician or anything, But he is proberly the most influential man in the history of the world and his stories have surived to this day with millions of people finding comfort and sanctuary in what he may or may not have done. If you are truely happy with faith and religion why discard it?

But I my own opinion I find it ironic how Jesus teaching were of peace and humility and yet in the gazar strip there has been a fight about religion and that small bit of land for century which goes against all the teaching of the bible also the brain is grey not red!

You mistake arrogance for a firm held belief. I wasn't attacking you, I was offering my views on a subject which you raised.

As I said I have no problem with people being happy with whatever belief system they choose. I personally have a problem with many of the issues associated with mainstream religion.

The colour of the brain is irrelevant.
I don't find it ironic that Jesus' teachings are being ignored/twisted, both sides believe they're right. Where's Jesus to sort it all out?
