ATLAS:
Astro's Brother and arch enemy. Atlas was developed by Walpurgis after he obtained Astros original design plans through Skunk. He was designed with a similar child like look to Astro originally and was known as "Atlas". Walpurgis and Skunk planned to use him to steal things however they became fustrated when Atlas stole recipts instead of cash. After this Walpurgis installed an Omega Factor into Atlas that allowed him to defy the robot laws. After attacking Walpurgis and Skunk for destorying Livian and being heavily damaged himself, he rebuilt his own body and Livian's, along with a horse and a special weapon.
The new Atlas and Livian are adult in appearance. Over the course of the series, Atlas gained a floating crystal castle and delt with his creator and Skunk again. In his last episode of the series, Atlas learns from Livian that Astro is his brother.
VS.
ASTRO BOY:
After Tobio died in a car accident, Dr. Tenma built Astro in Tobio's image and treated him as lovingly as if he were the real Tobio, but soon came to the fact that the little android could not fill the void of his lost son, especially due to the fact that he wouldn't grow.
-Strength equivalent to 100,000 horsepower (75 MW), allowing him to lift many times his own weight,
-The ability to fly using jets in his arms and legs,
-Magnification of his hearing up to 1000 times,
-Machine guns deployed at the rear of his abdomen. There is controversy over the exact location of these weapons - while some sources state that they are hip-mounted, others claim that they emerge from his rectum. This belief is reinforced by the animation style of the cartoon and justified by its proponents by expression of preconceptions of the Japanese creators as being typically polite beings who would be likely to avoid public references to certain parts of the body,
-An electro-heart that can discern people's criminal intentions,
-Bright eye-lamps to assist his vision.
