Post Ethernet
Man do I hate making ethernet cords with crappy cable. Someone asked me to fix their cable today because it was not wired properly. They had bought A and we use B. When i chopped the heads off, I found that the cable did not even have any insulation and the wires inside were flimsy. Everytime I tried to put the proper arrangement of wires in a new head they would not stay put. Mad I got it though. I had to ruin an extra head to do it, but I got it.

yeah. Wireless is really where it's at. Or at least where it should be at. Depending on how thick the walls are and where the router is placed results may vary.

I hear ya, man. I used to hate making cables. Especially when you had to use a cheap crimper that only tightened one side.

Yeah, and when you have to use crappy wire cutters that only cut through about half the wires and then you have to basically chew through the other wires with it, and then they are all skewed and you have to start all over again.

Part of my job is to provde the faculty of the college with proper network coneectivity. They do not own the computers that they use. It is the IT dept's resposibility to provide them with working equipment. Students on the other hand have to pay for the ethernet cords. We do tell them to buy a new one if t is dead.

Soeaking of ethernet cords, I jsut had to fix another one. THe tester said it works, but it would not work when hooked up to the computer. All that annoying work for nothing...pisses me off.
