I am aware this story made it to the foreign media but click here to read about it. I made a thread because this is something I am very passionate about and need to sound off.
I take a lot for granted in this country, one of them is that there is a basic understanding in existance that all races and people are equal and a riot will not erupt in your city between white people and people of middle-eastern extraction.
So you can imagine my surprise and disbelief when word of the riots came through.
The police presence was enough to subdue the riots after many hours, and possibly prevent further injury to persons involved in the riot, but they were not enough to cease the riots altogether, something easier said than done but an increased police presence was the least the state could have provided.
At a time when this country seems to be tearing itself a part, one would assume its leader would be able to bring it back together.
To this end, it is unfortunate we are governed by a Prime Minister who demonstrates a weak grasp on events within let alone without our borders.
The State Premier Morres Iemer does seem to be a man of action, although a task force comprized of detectives which was set up to investigate the riots of the previous days will not aid in quashing any further violence nor will it relieve any tension between racial or social groups in Sydney.
I sincerely hope that those who incite hatred and violence toward others in society whilst hiding behind the Australian flag are recognized by the rest of the country and the world as criminals, not patriots, and are brought to justice as such.
