Too bad you completely miss the point of patriotism.
PLEASE NISH,
ENLIGHTEN ME ON HOW TO BE AN AMERICAN PATRIOT
SINCE YOU KNOW SO MUCH ABOUT IT LIVING IN AUSTRALIA
serioulsy what the hell,
you know you've crossed the line when you are telling other people how they should be patriotic to their own country.
you think you know something abuot america from your liberal media? you dont know shit about america.
its cool you get to see New York and LA on TV or maybe occasioanlly go to a big city.
go the heartland of america, ohio, mississpi, nebraska.. and see if it's like what you have given the impression america is like..
Not everyone lives in your hollywood based idea of what America is like.
"Crossed the line?"
What the hell are you talking about?
The word patriotism doesnt just apply to the US you know that right? Although you sure as hell probably think that.
You're problem Pads is that you have no perspective.
Team, pretty much said everything I needed to say... America is not an enigma, it is not a big fucking mystery that the rest of the world can't comprehend, it is not something that needs 'to be understood' as you would have me believe.
And I dont know about that trade... I dont want pads here.... hmm, well Tasmania can have him.

No what you don't understand is the america that you know.. the america that is shown on the news.. is one of a handufl cities out of thousands in america.
LA, New York, DC, Miami, San Fransisco, Atlanta, Philidelphia.
I'm saying your view of america is clearly short sighted. And therefor when you are trying to tell me what my country should believe (unless we are committing major crimes against humanity) or my country DOES believe you obviously have no ground to stand on.

You have no idea how we see America. We are not so gullible and unintelligent as to synthesize our ideas from what we see on the 6:00 news. We are freethinking and to label our understanding of America as narrow or 'shortsighted' is a baseless accusation aiming to debunk our points of view which coincidentally do not correspond to those of your own.
We are in no way telling you what your country does or does not believe.
And in future discussions, please try to rebut our arguments as opposed to refuting the cultural background on which our arguments are formed. In other words, discuss the facts, not us.

Your "facts" that you get are shortsighted because of your cultural backround.
Example:
Bush quit his military service early and abandonded his country.
Fact? Well he did leave his service early. But he had an honorable discharge and his officers determined he had done his services and they knew he wanted to pursue politics early.
But because of the international bush hating media, the full story doesn't get to eveyrone. It doesn't even get to most people through the American media.
It's not like I'm saying you guys are being brainwashed or manipulated. I would think most people are too smart for that. But when the news itself is manipulated and turned around into a negative point of view, it obviously affects how you percieve it.
ANOTHER EXAMPLE
I was watching CNN and they were talking about the aftermath of the hurricane and how Bush was visiting the flooded cities. They were interviewing the police chief from one of the cities and one of the comments he made was somethign like "and certainly the president was shocked at what he saw". To which the interviewer said "he was shocked? it's been on the news all week. and he was shocked by what he's seen?"
the police chiefs response was priceless
"well why don't you come on down here and see the aftermath of this tragedy and see if it compares to what you've seen on the news"
so many of the news anchors, and reporters.. it's such crap..
what if the police chief didn't respond like that and eveyrone went away thinking bush was an idiot and a jerk because "he didn't realize the affects of the hurrican"? Stuff like that happens ALL THE TIME and it's just ridiculous.

Okay well I never mentioned/cared about Bush's military service. Next.

Okay now I have no idea how your rant fits into the context of this discussion. And I'm getting sick of having to prove my intellectual credentials to you every time I say something. Take my word for it when I say I am able to assess stories in the media for bias and am not an America-hating Democrat. You are making these discussions very difficult to have Pads.

And President Whitmore, who the liberal media tells me is too young and inexperienced to prove an effective leader.

It isnt so much that the leaders are idiots its more that the people are trained, mostly by hollywood and "libral" media, to hate every thing they cant understand, spend more money then they have, and autumatically blame others when something goes wrong. It is not a matter of questioning authority but more a matter of scape goating personal problems to a leader.
And by the way Nish real patriots keep an eye on their neihbors instead of keeping an eye on the government
